Inspired by Nature
The garden is one of my greatest teachers. It’s where I slow down, observe, and reconnect. Every plant, petal, and branch holds inspiration. I often find myself recreating what I’ve seen outdoors, a curling vine, the surface of a seed pod, or the shape of a flower just before it fades. My connection to gardens started early. My mother loved plants, and I enjoy time spent in my grandmother’s backyard while growing up in Jamaica, surrounded by texture and growth. Those memories helped shape the way I see the world. Today, when I travel, I’m as drawn to gardens and green spaces as I am to landmarks. You’ll find traces of that influence in the forms I make. A bud-like vase. A petal-shaped rim. Soft carvings that mirror light passing through leaves. These ideas come from lived moments and often show up naturally as I work with the clay. Both gardens and working with clay, remind me that beauty exists in both order and wildness, in both growth and letting go. I try to carry that lesson into each piece. Through my ceramics, I hope to share a bit of that feeling, like the calm that comes from walking through a garden or noticing the small wonders of the natural world.
