I have always been a child of nature and I fell in love with clay and the possibilities it holds for my expressions. It’s magic the way it can become the objects I wish to make. Just think, the raw ball of clay I hold in my hand before I start a pinch pot, is earth. I love the fact that it takes all four basic elements to create a ceramic piece. Earth, Water, Air and Fire. The entire creative process is challenging, intense and a bit worrisome at times but it’s highly exciting when you have that finished piece in your hands. It fills me with great joy.
My work is imbued with a certain whimsy inspired by my love of gardens and nature. Mother Nature is a great artist and I borrow inspiration from her in every piece I create. My favorite thing to do with pottery is carvings and piercing. My carvings are inspired by textures that can be found in nature. The process is completely therapeutic and satisfying. It is detailed work which takes time and dedication and is so worth it in the end.
I want to focus on creating pieces that are full of beauty, whimsy and functionality. My hope is that while I’m on this journey of experimentation, learning and creativity, folks will love some things I’ve made enough to buy them and add to their collection. This support will help my growth as a potter and make my small batch pottery studio business dreams a reality.
